Thinking of Visiting?

Thinking of visiting First Baptist Church? We realize that visiting a new church may be intimidating. Don't worry! We're confident you'll find us a friendly church and we'd be more than glad to see you visit.

When should I visit?
Our service times are listed on this page.

Should I "dress up"?
That's entirely up to you. You'll find many people attending the service prefer to "dress up" with suits, ties, dresses, etc. But you'll also find people attending the service wearing casual attire as well.

Where do my children go?
Depending on the service you visit, we have a number of activities for children. At every service we have a staffed nursery to care for the little ones. On Sunday mornings we offer Sunday School for all ages (including adults), followed by the morning service, where the children go to their own Junior Church service. Also, for much of the school year, we also have a Master Clubs program.

So.... What do I do in the service?
Each of the services has a different purpose, and therefore a different format.

For example, in our Adult Bible Class on Sunday mornings, we take a very indepth look into a specific passage of the Bible, and learn how it applies to everyday life. This is our most "interactive" service, where the congregation can ask questions, provide comments, or give examples in their own lives of the topic being studied.

Afterwords, in the morning service, as well as in the Sunday evening service, we have a time of congregational singing, choir specials, as well as other solo or group music. Of course, we always receive a message from the Bible.

Our Wednesday evening prayer meetings focus on prayer. In addition to congregational singing and a message from the Bible, a portion of the service is devoted to prayer, typically in small groups, before closing the service with another hymn.

Am I expected to put money in the offering plate?
We don't expect our visitors to put money in the offering plate. At most of our services, we do have an offering as an opportunity for our members and regular attenders to give to support the work of the church and missions. If you want to put something in the offering plate, feel free, but please feel just as free to let the plate pass on by.
